Dear Parents,
This is a very exciting term as we prepare for our concert That’s Entertainment! The concert takes place in The Corn Exchange in Witney on Saturday 29 March at 6pm and Sunday 30 March at 2pm and 6pm. The children are really enthusiastic and everything is falling into place.
The majority of the concert will be classical ballet dances performed by the pupils of The Windrush School of Ballet. The remainder of the programme will be songs from musicals such as Oliver! and The Lion King performed by children from Bladon Junior Church. To read more about Bladon Junior Church and their activities you can look at their website www.juniorchurch.co.uk.
This newsletter contains important information concerning the rehearsals and performances. Please keep it to hand for reference.
On Saturday 29 March: The dress rehearsal will start at 12.30pm. The children need to arrive at The Corn Exchange by midday. We should finish at approximately 3pm when the children should be collected and taken home for a rest. For the evening performance the children will need to be at the Corn Exchange by 5.15pm. The performance, including the interval, should last about 2 hours.
On Sunday 30 March: The children will need to arrive by 1.15pm for the 2pm matinee performance. The children can either stay at the Corn Exchange or return home before the evening performance. If you wish to take your child home then it is important you let us know and also ensure they arrive back by 5.15pm.
Pre-Primary children whose classes take place on Fridays at 4pm will take part in the Sunday matinee performance only. Pre-Primary children whose classes are on Saturdays at 10am will take part in the Sunday evening performance only. All other children will take part in all performances.
I would be grateful for additional parent help in dressing and chaperoning the children. If any parents are able to offer their time for one of the three performances then please indicate on the attached form.
We have arranged for a DVD/video to be taken of both Sunday performances so all children are included. An order form will be available to complete and return at every performance. I have enclosed a form with this newsletter a form requesting permission to photograph and film your child. Please return this to Angela as soon as possible. Please note that the photographs and videos/DVDs will only be made available to parents of cast members.
Tickets for the concert will be available from Angela in two weeks time. They are priced at £8 for adults and £6 for concessions (children aged 4 – 14 years and senior citizens). Children of 3 years and under are free of charge if they are willing to sit on their parent’s lap. The proceeds will go towards covering the substantial costs of staging the concert such as theatre hire and the purchase of costumes. Any profits will be given to charity.
There will be additional rehearsals at The Corn Exchange on Sunday 16 March and Friday 28 March. Full details about these rehearsals will be given out nearer the time. These rehearsals are very important because performing on the stage in front of the bright lights is completely different from practising in the rehearsal hall!
Information about the concert, including copies of all our newsletters are available on our website www.windrushballet.co.uk.
We hope you will be able to come and see what we expect to be a really enjoyable show!
